It doesn’t always have to be Processing. Here is a quick and rough sketch I did with Javascript. You might want to give it a try just for its aesthetics. In the top left corner you can turn gravity on and off.
I’m not sure how it looks on the PC but it works fine – regarding the performance – on the Mac.

Wow! I’m looking at the code…. it’s looking back at me. There’s a slightly… hostile air between us. Now we’re just walking in opposite directions without a word, considering how to spin this falling out to our friends.

I wish I could say I was drunk when I typed that, but I wasn’t. Basically I’m just saying that I couldn’t really understand the code.
It’s not a huge job being commenter-in-residence here. One unintelligible comment every three months isn’t exactly taxing.
