It doesn’t always have to be Processing. Here is a quick and rough sketch I did with Javascript. You might want to give it a try just for its aesthetics. In the top left corner you can turn gravity on and off.
I’m not sure how it looks on the PC but it works fine – regarding the performance – on the Mac.

Are you also tired of the wallpapers that ship (used to ship) with Apple’s PowerBooks? For my taste they are too clean, professional and uninspiring.
